We have been busy!!!
First of all, in between all off the shed hunting and scouting we have squeezed in a little thing called the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg Pa. as well as a really awesome Rabbit Hunt with some really cool new friends!!!
The first shed hunt of the year was pretty much a bust...I am thinking that most of the boys are still holding as this was a spot that Kevin and I usually do pretty good early. Kevin actually saw 2 bucks still packing headgear when we split up to cover a thicket. I found a dead 8 point from well before the opener while in that thicket. Roger and I hunted right beside that rascal this year in the early season....I thought I smelled something...
Kevin ended up finding one fresh shed...at least his eyes are ready...It was a dinky little spike side...
We hit the show with Andy and Greg from UltimateCamo...Always a fun time...I need to come up with something differant for the back wall of the display. Although it is definitely and attention getter and looks really cool....It is not very easy to transport and set up...its beating us all up. We got her all set up and had some fun. Every year I look forward to the show as I always enjoy meeting and making new friends and this year was no different.
Hinky ended up winning the 3D tourney at the show after the 3 year reign of CJ...At least we kept it in the family....I tried my hand for the first time at the shoot and I..............well, I had fun!!!
The boy didnt even have his bow dialed in the day of.....yes, those are cobwebs on his pins.....
Speaking of fun..............
Rabbit hunting is fun!!! I had never been rabbit hunting before but had always heard the stories of the dogs. What a cool thing to witness!!!
Doug has a few buddies with some fantastic Beagles and the guys were so cool...They really love the sport and are there almost exclusively for the love of the dogs the hunt as they didnt even have guns...That was where Doug involved Hinky and I...hehehe
There ended up being 5 guns and 7 dogs...Each of the dogs had its own bark that you come to recognize throughout the day. The guys were totally in tune with their dogs and knew how to read them and were constantly trying to help us rookies out and getting us in the right position...What a fantastic day. Great fun with some new and old friends taking 17 rabbits and a bunch of really cool new photo ops!!!
