Bob had some fun with kids and friends today...Here is his story...
I was talking to my lifelong Friend Howard Eakes and we were talking about how we were kids and about going trout fishing. we would get dropped off at Deer Creek early in the morning by our parents and we would fish until we caught our limits or were too cold and wet to keep going.
We decided to take our own kids this year and try and catch a trout or two. We bundled them up, grabbed a couple jars of orange and pink power bait, and off the the Creek we went at 4am! We waited on the bank until the 5:30 kick of bell. 4 kids fishing in the dark equals snags, crossed lines, and a testing of a father's patience. The Sun came up a few nibbles started to happen. Soon enough, the first trout was caught and the fun began. The Kids continued to cats and knock um' dead till about 8 am till they all caught their limit of five trout each. Cold, tired, muddy and covered in fish slime, we headed home for a big pancake breakfast. I personally never cast a line in the water myself. My Friend Howard maybe caught one trout. We both had our hands full with our kids. Hopefully they will pass on the tradition to their own kids, in their own time. If this isn't good clean fun, I don't know what possibly can be.
